BALALAIKA
This balalaika becomes a symbol of unity and continuity through the performance of Khorovod: an ancient Slavic circular dance. A collective ritual in which men and women hold hands in a circle, moving in slow, rhythmic steps to the traditional chant. Celebrated outdoors, in the fields, or during seasonal festivities, the dance is an expression of sharing, belonging, and continuity over time.
The circular movement, a collective and ritual gesture, represents the harmony between individual and community, between time and memory. Thus, the form embraces the ritual, holds it, and transforms it into memory.
