THE FAIRY TALE
Upon the birth of Princess Aurora , the king and queen organize a grand celebration, inviting the kingdom's fairies to bestow upon the child qualities and virtues. But a forgotten fairy , offended by her exclusion, bursts into the hall and casts a terrible curse : upon reaching sixteen, the young girl will prick herself on a spindle and die. A benevolent fairy manages to lift the spell: it will not be death, but a deep sleep , lasting a hundred years. Although the king has every spindle in the kingdom destroyed, destiny finds its fulfillment. Aurora , drawn by the unknown, prickes herself and falls asleep. With her, the entire castle falls under the same enchantment: servants, courtiers, even time seem to stand still. Thick, impassable brambles grow around the palace, until, after many years, a prince manages to break through them. Guided by the tale of that legend, he comes before the princess and with his loving gesture—a kiss —breaks the spell. Aurora wakes up, and with her the entire castle, as if time had only been waiting for that moment.
