THE FAIRY TALE

Maria Morevna is no ordinary princess. She is a fierce warrior queen, endowed with magnetic beauty and power deeply connected to the forces of nature. At the height of her glory, while governing her kingdom wisely and defending its borders from dark forces, she meets the young Ivan Tsarevich and chooses him as her husband. However, her generosity becomes the cause of her downfall when Ivan, giving in to curiosity, breaks the palace seals and frees the evil sorcerer Koschei the Deathless. Fascinated by Maria Morevna's strength and noble lineage, the sorcerer kidnaps her and takes her away. Yet, the queen refuses to surrender to her fate as a prisoner. Despite the distance and her forced exile among harsh and remote mountains, her connection to nature remains intact. Through secret communication with creatures of the air and water, she continues to resist and guide events from afar. It will be her unwavering dignity, combined with her strategic wisdom, that allows Ivan to find the magical steed needed to defeat the forces of darkness. Through courage and perseverance, Maria Morevna thus regains her freedom and her rightful throne.

THE TECHNIQUE

The miniature is entirely painted on a single mother-of-pearl sheet whose natural veins and iridescence allow natural light to radiate through the entire composition from within:

The Figure of Maria Morevna: majestically placed at the center, the queen stands with regal and magnetic dignity. Her very long auburn hair floats, moved by the wind, enveloping her like a protective mantle, while her proud and knowing gaze betrays a spirit never broken by captivity.

Creatures of Air and Water: at the sovereign's feet, her gown literally dissolves into marine waves rich with swirls and white foam, painted with exceptional dynamism. Around her, a flock of white and gray birds soars through the sky, symbolizing the winged and aquatic messengers through whom the queen secretly communicates to guide the destiny of her kingdom.

A Lively and Shifting Landscape: the background shows the impervious mountains of her exile, but the harshness of the rocks is softened by the opalescent reflections of the underlying sheet. The mother-of-pearl lends the windy sky, the mountains, and the sea foam a silvery and golden light that changes with every shift in inclination, transforming the figure of Maria Morevna into a mythical creature, indissolubly fused with the very elements of the cosmos.
