THE FAIRY TALE
Tom Thumb —as big as a thumb—was the youngest of seven children of a poor family of woodcutters. One night, he overheard his parents, desperate for food, deciding to abandon their children in the woods. Prepared, he collected small pebbles and dropped them along the path, thus managing to bring his brothers home. But poverty drove them to try again. This time, Tom Thumb could only mark the way with breadcrumbs, which the birds ate. Lost in the woods, the children reached the home of a child-eating ogre . Welcomed under deception, they were doomed to death. During the night, however, Tom Thumb exchanged his and his brothers ' caps for the crowns of the ogre's daughters: in the darkness, the monster struck his own daughters, while the boys fled. The ogre pursued them wearing seven-league boots , capable of covering enormous distances, but exhausted, he fell asleep. Tom Thumb stole his boots and, thanks to them, reached the king 's palace, where he entered his service as a messenger. Rewarded with gold and money, he was finally able to secure a better future for his family. Thus, the youngest of his brothers demonstrated that ingenuity can transform weakness into salvation and poverty into redemption.
" Tom Thumb teaches that true strength lies not in size or power, but in intelligence and quick wit. Even those who appear most fragile can become guides and saviors when they know how to observe, foresee, and act with courage. Redemption can arise from difficulties: it is ingenuity, combined with determination, that transforms fear into opportunity and weakness into fulfilled destiny."
